Welcome to the 21st century, where handshakes became hashtags and playing outside consists of finding Pokemon through your mobile device! Social Media has become what Gary Vaynerchuck likes to call “the current state of the internet”. It’s not some fad diet that promised you abs and instead stuffed you with regret. In a sink or swim world you have to ask yourself…
Do you have your floaties?
2017 should be about marketing smarter not harder and now more than ever you can place your valuable marketing dollars in front of the right audience at the right time!
Buying Ads in your local paper seems like a great idea… but let’s face it, no ones there! Your customer's attention is no longer spent flipping through pages, it’s spent scrolling through feeds. Remember that time you got really excited about that pamphlet you got in the mail? Exactly! Here’s some insight on running a successful campaign for the remainder of 2016 or until Facebook releases new updates.
The 80/20 Rule
The 80/20 rule is based on a simple principle: give more than what you ask for. Facebook has one of the world’s most complex algorithms called “EdgeRank” in layman's term this is how it works; for every like or comment on your post “Edge” rewards you with 1 point, for every share “The Holy Grail” you get 3 points. Depending on how fast the audience reacts and engages with your post, “Edge” auctions your post visibility in tiers and calculates how many people will actually want to see or if it should be put on the back burner to simmer for some hot content to appear on the top of your feed. We recommend 80% of your newsfeed to consist of local community news, pictures, share interesting articles and once in awhile maybe a funny cat video! You should post information about your community and how great it is to live there and keep 20% reserved for your Real Estate articles and properties. When the time is right, you will have an engaged audience that will be more than happy to share your listings!
